James F. Kershner


James F. "Big Daddy" Kershner, 60, of Red Hill Dr., Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, died Friday afternoon in his home. He was the husband of Janet L. (Furry) Kershner. They observed their 39th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3.

He was a bag room attendant for the Horsehead Corporation and the former New Jersey Zinc Company, both of Palmerton.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Gerald A. and Marion (Gerber) Kershner. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Kershner was a 1965 graduate of Tamaqua High School and a 1968 graduate of Stevens Trade School, Lancaster.

He was an avid hunter, camper and motorsports and classic cars fan.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Tara L. wife of Jonathan Heil, and four sons, Chad M., and his wife, Jennifer, Ryan M., Aron S. and Adam S. all of Palmerton; a sister, Jean E. Serfass of New Ringgold; and three grandchildren.

The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.
