Leonard L. Borger

Leonard L. Borger, 95, of Palmerton, passed away Sunday, December 7, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Grace (Hook) Borger. They would have been married 77 years on Christmas Day.

He worked as a high run crane operator for Bethlehem Steel for 38 years until retiring. Concurrently, he owned and operated Borger Transportation. For 35 years, his school buses safely carried Palmerton and Lehighton area students.

Leonard was the oldest active member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville, where he participated in many aspects of church life. He was also the oldest active member of Grundsau Lodsch #11, Trachsville. An avid antique car collector, he was also active in several area car clubs.

Family was a well of tremendous strength, joy and pride for Leonard. They were the most important people in the world to him.

Born in Trachsville, he was a son of the late Raymond and Eva Borger.

Survivors: wife; son Rodney and wife Domenica; grandsons Jonathan, Jason and wife Nichole; great-grandchildren Andrew, Anna, Braelyn, Charles, Logan; sisters Mrs. Beatrice Waibel, Ruberta and husband Gerald Voorhees, Mrs. JoAnn Weeks. Leonard was predeceased by his brother Arthur Berger and sisters Arlene Kresge, Shirley Fritz, Mildred Ahner.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, in church, 545 Church Dr., Trachsville. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Friday in church. Arrangements, T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, Palmerton.
