Mabel Meckes Obituary

Mrs. Mabel I. Meckes, 84, of Danner Road, Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly. She was the widow of Charles C. Meckes Jr., who died in 1999.
She had worked as a store clerk, retiring from the former Brights Department Store, Lehighton, after more than 25 years of service.
Born in Weatherly, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Katie (Craiglow) Hinkle.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Penn Forest Township, and the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son Keith, with whom she had resided; a sister, Adele Fegley of Ringtown; and a grandson, Gavin Meckes.
She was also predeceased by five brothers, Clyde, Mahlon, Clarence, Carl and Ira; and two sisters, Alma Neifert and Norene Simmons.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, Christ Lutheran Church, Penn Forest Twp., with the Rev. John P. Hassler officiating. Interment, church cemetery. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Contributions in her name may be made to the memorial fund of the church, 189 Church Rd., Jim Thorpe, Pa. 18229. Arrangements by Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe.

WHAT A WONDERFUL AND KIND PERSON. SHE ALWAYS DID A FINE JOB WORKING IN THE MEN'S DEPT. AT BRIGHTS. THE MEN JUST LOVED HAVING HER THERE. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE. MAY GOD BLESS THE WHOLE MECKES FAMILY. JOHN AND CLAUDIA SHIMER, LAKE TAHOE,NV.
