Marie Alice Glassic

Marie Alice Glassic, 88, of East Sixth Street, Jim Thorpe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Dec. 13, 1936, in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Winifred (Herman) McHugh.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marie will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness and generosity to others.

A graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School, Marie went on to earn her registered nursing degree from the former Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Darby.

She worked at the former Palmerton Hospital and the former Lehighton Hospital, and later served as nightshift supervisor at Mahoning Valley Nursing Home. Marie was a wonderful nurse, known for her compassion and dedication to her patients and colleagues.

Marie married her beloved husband, Edward S. Glassic Sr., on Jan. 25, 1957. They shared 68 loving years together.

She was a devoted mother to her children: Lisa Harris Boothe, wife of Steven Boothe, Sharon, wife of Jerome Citro, Edward Glassic Jr., and his wife, Mary "Betsy," Danny Glassic, and his wife, Shauna, and Scott Glassic, and his wife, Jodi. She was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a loving sister to her brothers, Charles and James McHugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donny McHugh.

Marie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe. Together with her husband, Eddie, she proudly served as a volunteer on the Jim Thorpe Memorial Park Commission for 10 years.

Services: All services will be private. The Melber Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie's name may be made to St. Luke's Hospice, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015.
