Marvin Helfrich Obituary
Marvin K. Helfrich, 86, of Mahoning Valley, passed peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, while under the care of LVHN Hospice and surrounded by his family and a special friend he held dearly in his heart. He was the husband of Carol (Litchauer) Helfrich, with whom he shared 60 years of wedded bliss.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Gertrude Helfrich.
As a teen "Marvie" worked at the Lehighton Bottling works, bottling Moxie soda. "Marvie" retired at the age of 55 after working 30 years at Mack Trucks.
Many summers were spent with family and friends at the lakeside trailer at Collins Lake, Canada. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifetime member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, John (Deborah) Helfrich; two daughters, Stacy (Rodney) Engle and Carla (Lewis) Exner; three granddaughters, Kelli, Yvette and Mykayla; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to all the care givers who provided loving hands in taking care of "Pappy." A heartfelt thank you to the hospice crew, Kim, Charolette and Noelle, who were very passionate in the care they provided for "Pappy."
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton, with LLM Emma Weaver officiating. Interment, Packerton Cemetery. Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in loving memory of Pappy Helfrich be made to LVHN Hospice, https://LVHN.org/give.

I remember when I was small and he lived with Grammy Helfrich. I visited there . He used to save coins. He didn't have an easy life growing up. But he never gave up. He had determination. Sorry for your loss.

Carol and family. Do sorry for your loss. Marley was a great man. My father and him were close when they were young. I heard a lot of stories from my father. Rest in peace
