Michael Phillip Murphy, 68, of Tamaqua, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in Coaldale. He was the husband of Sharon (Mooney) Murphy, with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage this past March.
He worked for Alcoa Aluminum, Cress-
ona.
Born in Coaldale on June 22, 1954, he was a son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Marcin) Murphy.
A 1972 graduate of Marian High School, he completed his education at Stevens Trade School.
He was a member of the former St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Michael would spend his free time fishing, taking trips to the casino and following sports, especially the Phillies, Eagles and Notre Dame. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Michael, and his wife, Amber, of Hometown, and Matthew of Tamaqua; two grandchildren, Cillian and Aspen; five siblings, Joseph, and his wife, Adele, of Pottstown, Eugene, and his wife, Michelle, and James, and his wife, Linda, both of Tamaqua, Joan, wife of Thomas Delay of New Ringgold, and Mary Louise, wife of William Bittle in Ohio; a sister-in-law, Darlene Murphy of Hometown; and many nephews and nieces.
He was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas.
Service: Prayer service 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31, Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Private interment at convenience of family. Call 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
