I am so saddened to hear this news so many years later. Many years ago, I was watching a trial and saw Michael's passion come alive in that courtroom. He was a force of nature, with incensed rage defending his client; I was lacking any purpose or direction at that point and I remember being so envious of someone that talented at what they did. I am so saddened to hear the news - prayers for the family,

Thinking of you, the "kids", Lisa... so wish you were around, MW. Memories of you are so precious. One night we were working on a case, and the Mexican Restaurant across the street was blasting music... You asked (bewildered), "Where is that music coming from?!" I responded that I had a metal filling in my back tooth that picks up Mexican radio stations. You laughed so hard - the first time I had ever heard such a bounding laugh from you. That's what I think about. I can hear your laughter. Will never forget you.

Michael you are so very missed. It is heartbreaking to know how your family misses you and all you are missing from the joys in your family´s lives. Do you always put them first. You fought for fairness as a lawyer Yes sadly there is much unfairness in life that is untouchable. I am so so sorry for your loss at such as early age Are you missing out on what you should be enjoying.

Almost 5 years, Michael. You are missed by so many... you made my life in Atlanta so wonderful for a homesick young gal. You and your family made such a wonderful impact on me, and working with you was exciting, empowering, and a tremendous learning experience. You are the best of the best (and you knew it, although humble) and will always be. I will never forget you. Tami

I met Michael when he was a new attorney in Atlanta. We never tried a case together, but had a few pleas, and he was always nice. I don't think of us in our 60s dying, but it is happening too often. I'm sorry for the family. We all think we will live to be in our 90s, but that is often not God's plan.

In 1984 Michael, took an unusual client, when he represented me in my divorce. He was personally incensed with how I was being treated, and he soon became my hero in court. Over the next 30+ years, we would run into each other from time to time, and Michael always updated me on how his family was doing. He was so proud of his children. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and know that his deep love for family and friends will be with you, and guide you always. My heartfelt condolences.

Dear Donna, Josh,Shaun and Niciole: Michael was a very special person to us. He helped us incorporate our business in 1977 while still at Scheer and Elsner and worked with us for the whole 20 years we had CCS, then did the legal work to sell our business. We were friends outside work as we'll. I still have the 4 page handwritten letter he took the time to write 5 years ago in response to news in my Christmas Card that Ray had health problems. We never expected to be here mourning his passing.
He was a wonderful person and a very bright light went out from the world with his loss. Our deepest sympathy to you from

This is an email I sent to my friends and wanted to share it.
I have lost my best friend. I have known Michael for 35 years this week. Him and Donna were the first people we met in Atlanta as we just moved here and knew know one. He has been like a brother to me. I am sitting here in shock today. I drove Donna's car back from Destin yesterday and all I did was think about Michael. It kept me awake, as I hate that drive. Six hours of thinking about him and all the great times we had together. I could have driven for days and have never ran out of thoughts of the 35 years as friends. We have been through so much together. I have watched all of our kids grow up together. We went on many trips and I will never forget any of them. We had seen Babies Born, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings then Grandchildren. Life isn't fair to have taken his life so early. We would talk almost daily sometimes 2-3 times in a day. Our wives would sometime complain that we talked too much. I am so glad I had the opportunity to do so. I will miss all of his great stories. I will miss him coming over to visit and so excited to raid my pantry, as he knew I always had it stocked, especially with Jelly Beans just for him. I also would raid his jar of M&Ms on his counter when I came over. Or if I got lucky and they had brickle in the freezer. I went through so many pictures today and it brought back so many memories. I can't stop thinking of him and miss him so much. I know Michael as touched so many of your lives or your family's life. We all have a story that involves Michael. That just shows what a great person he was that somehow he was in everyone's life. He never turned down helping anyone. I can go on forever and never run out of great stories of our friendship. It's amazing how the mind works that now that he is gone everything we have done in the past together just keeps going through my mind.
Your Friend,
Stewart

In the Guest Book on Dresslers Funeral Home someone wrote how being in Michaels presence made him feel special. That is so well said and so accurate. What a gift. He may have been a cougar as an attorney and advocate yet he was so kind and sweet at same time. He loved so well and was so well loved.

Dear Donna, I am a voice from Michael's and your past ... having been your travel agent for years prior to my retirement in 2000. I heard of Michael's death through Andy Bauman who wrote a tribute to him in his message to his Sandy Springs City Council District. Michael was a pleasure to deal with and a sincere and dedicated individual. I remember him with admiration and respect.

Michael was a friend and many years ago my lawyer. A brilliant and most competent if not the best trial lawyer in the court room. ironically recently I had thought about calling him just to say hi. I feel I lost a very dear friend . Deepest sympathy to his entire family. May he rest in peace in Gan Eden.

Donna, Josh, Shaun and Nicole, I was so sorry to hear about Michael. Words can not express how wonderful he was. Michael was always there to help anyone who needed a hand. He was a brilliant, tough litigator on the outside, but a marshmallow on the inside. He was like a big brother to me for many years. Michael was a hero to many...and a friend to all. He truly was one of the good guys. We will all miss his smile.
Please accept my heartfelt and sincere condolences.

Among everything else, Michael was a link for me back to Pittsburgh and the old EKC camp in Harmony, PA. He was my kids' friend's father, my friend, a member of the JNF board of Directors, a bike rider, a dear man and a warm loving soul. I knew this while he was by my side and I will know it for many years to come. My heart is broken. Beth

To the family:
My heartfelt condolences go out to you. I worked with (for) Michael as his legal assistant at W&S. Thus, I had an opportunity to see a side of Michael that many did not see--man full of compassion, generosity, and warmth. Although Michael worked hard as an attorney, he made sure his family remained a priority. His love for his family was evident in his actions. Michael was a passionate attorney, and he exuded such passion in the courtrooms. Michael definitely left a legacy, and he will be missed.

There are very few people in the world gifted and beloved enough to be known by one name: Cher. Madonna. Tiger. LeBron. When most people hear the name “Michael,” they may think of Michael “Jackson” or Michael “Jordan.” But Michael always meant Michael “Weinstock” to me. He was a generous, devoted, and dear friend, and we all will miss him very much. My deepest sympathies and love go out to the entire Weinstock family.

Reading the other messages leaves me with the thought of what an amazing individual Michael was. There is no doubt that Michael touched the life of anyone he ever met in the most positive way. I have known you since Tulane and remember how special you and Donna made the many Thanksgiving meals we all shared in your home. You have left a lot behind, but it seems to all be quality. And because of the way you were, only the finest. You will be missed.

The world feels so different with out your presence, which was a huge and brilliant one. Like the North star you twinkled brightly and provided direction to many and were always there. You touched so many in such a positive way and contributed to our joy and well being. You demonstrated excellence in everything you did. You would a role model in every role you had and raised the bar. You were the essence of love and had such a heart of gold. Everyone adored you. (Except if you were their opposing attorney) But even then deep down they still probably did and respected you and wished they chose you for theirs. As my brother I knew I could always count on you and you provided a sense of security and safety. Getting your attention was so delicious and satisfying.I admired and respected you more than words can say, and most of all, loved you to my full capacity. You made our parents very very proud. I was always so proud to be Michael's little sister and felt it raised my importance. You were devoted to your family as much as possible and even more. To your friends as well. Even always had the time for strangers to help out with sincerity. You now touch so many as we grieve your loss and feel compassion for the suffering your illness caused you and only wish better treatment options were available so you could have gotten better. I love you and always will.
