Patricia Smiley Obituary
Patricia A. Smiley, 63, of Palmerton, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 23, with family at her side. She was the wife of the late David Smiley.
She worked as a para-teacher for 10 years at SS Palmer Elementary School, as well as a personal care aide at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home and a private home health caregiver.
Patti attended Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville.
Family was everything to her, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Born in Palmerton, Patti was a daughter of the late Guerney "Dick" and Arlene (Althouse) Heiney.
Survivors: daughter Sara; son Adam and wife Emily; seven grandchildren; sister Mrs. Diane Smith; brother Terry and wife Karen; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: Public call 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 27, at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Service private, at the convenience of family.
Contributions: Patti Smiley Funeral Fund, c/o the funeral home, Palmerton 18071.

This is very sad news. Patty was my S.S. Palmer 2nd grade classroom para (teacher-aide extraordinaire!) for quite a few years. In all those years, I can say I can count on one hand ( and not use all the fingers) how many times Patty was without a smile. The students loved her, she always went above and beyond, and I thought of her as not only a colleague, but also a friend. She touched countless children's lives, and as she was not being one to boast, I hope she knew the difference she helped make in so many of their lives. Blessings on you, Patty, and comfort and peace to Sara, Adam, your many grandchildren, and to everyone who knew and loved you.

I am completely devastated, we may have had sporadic contact the past few years but we both knew we were there for each other if needed. My heart goes out to the family for their loss.
