Peter J. Bashago

Peter J. Bashago, 91, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, in St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale. He was the husband of Margaret (Kosalko) Bashago. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 29 of this year.

Born on April 9, 1932, in Tuscarora, he was a son of the late Peter and Katharine (Holota) Bashago.

He was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.

He was employed as a truck driver for the Borough of Lansford until his retirement.

He was a life member of the former St. Michael's Catholic Church, Lansford, and a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.

A guitarist, he was the last member of the 50s Band "The Mello-Dee Lads," which played on WLSH every Saturday morning. He had a unique sense of humor. Pete enjoyed being in the outdoors, cutting grass, traveling and helping his wife Marge create their colorful gardens.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Thomas, and his wife, Myrna; a daughter Diane, wife of John LeGrande of Crystal River, FL; three grandsons, Richard and Christopher Bashago in Texas and Jay LeGrande, and his wife, Kelsey, in Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Molly LeGrande; a brother Robert, and his wife, Anna Mae, of Tuscarora; and many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen DeCindo and Mae Yacobowsky; and two brothers, John and Joseph.

Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, with the Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
