Richard F. Serfass, 97, of Lehighton and formerly Geneva, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Kibler) Serfass.
Born on Jan. 6, 1925, in Albrightsville, he was a son of the late Frances O. and Emma J. (Meckes) Serfass.
Richard worked as an electrician for Mobil Pipeline in Rochester, NY, for 40 years until his retirement. Previously, he worked on Getzes Farm in Polk Tow-nship.
In 1984, Richard retired to Seneca Lake, NY, where he enjoyed maintaining his yard and working on his equipment. He would also help his neighbors with clearing snow from their driveways and any electrical, mechanical or plumbing issues.
In his "spare time,"Richard helped his family build two log homes, one in 1988 and again in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Todd R. Serfass, husband of Kathy M., of Lehighton; grandchildren, Chad A. Serfass and Michelle D. Deebel, great-grandchildren, Chelsea Irving, Abigail Minnick and Luke Deebel, great-great-grandson, Maverick Irving; sisters, Barbara Ahner, Dorthy Mae Staudt and Lorraine Einfalt; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Winner and Delbert Serfass; and sister, Idella Walck.
Service: A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Schaeffer Funeral Home, Lehighton, is in charge of arrangements.
