Robert B. Rimbey
Robert B. Rimbey Sr., 82, of 505 Mahoning St., Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Friday at Gnaden Huetten Hospital, Lehighton, one day before his 62nd wedding anniversary on Feb. 28. He was the husband of Leona A. (Tessitore) Rimbey.
Prior to his retirement on Feb. 1, 1995, he was employed as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight at the Mt. Pocono terminal. He previously worked in the same capacity for MTS in Northampton. He was a recipient of the 1 million mile accident free safety award.
Born in Jim Thorpe, he was the son of the late Gordon and Eva Snyder Rimbey.
Lutheran by faith, Robert was a life member of Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1, and a member of Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club.
A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching #3 Earnhardt Sr. on the NASCAR circuit, the Philadelphia Eagles football team, the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies baseball teams.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Judith, wife of Barry Fink, Kathryn, wife of Terry Strausberger, Mary, wife of Ernest Smith, Lisa Diehl and her fiancé, George Zellers; two sons, Robert Jr. and his companion, Terese Geiges, Richard F. and his wife Robin, of Lehighton; seven grandchildren, Lisa Beers, Regina Carrigan, Richard Rimbey Jr., Holly Andrews, Steven Rimbey, Rachael Oswald, Vanessa Rimbey; three great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Owen, Jakoby,; nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a grandson Michael; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee; and a sister, Marian Yarema.
Services: 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating. Interment, Gnaden Huetten Cemetery. Call 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
