With sadness I learned of Ruby's passing. I wish to extend to you my sympathy and let you know that my thoughts are with you. I thank Pearl for contacting me during her illness. My last visit to Ruby was during the later half of this past winter, and I shared with her how thankful I was to be friends with her and Tom. They left me with memories, of which I want to share two with you. One is "colonial apples" as Tom called them. There has never been an apple that approached the character and flavor of his apples. To this day, my first son recalls "special apples" from the Owens family. The second memory is of three chesnut trees cut down by PPL, of which the trunks, thanks to Ruby thinking of me, the woodcrafter, are being made into crafts in my woodwork "shop". It was so kind of her to call me to take the trees. If there is anything you her family wish for me to make from the wood, please contact me. I can make suggestions if you would like - perhap, for example - a wooden box or shelf to contain or display a religious item in her church.
May Ruby's memory be a blessing to you her family and friends.

Dear Jody and Family, Its very hard to put into words what is in my heart right now so I would just like to leave you with this poem from my mom. No tears, please, as I close my eyes on this life's day. I'm not gone far I'm just a thought away. Although my voice you can no longer hear, my face no longer see there is no death you know while there is love and memory. God give you peace as you go thru this difficult time. Love, Karen
