Sara Solt

Sara E. Solt, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Carbon Campus. Born in East Mauch Chunk, PA, on December 17, 1939, a daughter to the late Milford and Margaret (McGinley) Bernhard, Sara was a cherished member of the community and a devoted family woman.

Sara's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, work, and community. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; with whom she shared 63 years of marriage in February; Her daughters, Mary Louise Lauer, of Jim Thorpe, and Jane Krebs and her husband Bernard of Jim Thorpe; granddaughters Alyssa Smith and her husband Brian of Lehighton, and Jessica Lauer of Jim Thorpe; and her sister Nancy Mason of Allentown. She was predeceased by her sister Marilee McFarland, her brother John Bernhard, and her son-in-law Robert Lauer.

For 33 years, Sara served with dedication as an aide in the Jim Thorpe Area School District. She was deeply involved in her church, Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, contributing her time and talents to the parish council, the Catholic Daughters Society, and the PTA of Saint Joseph's. Her commitment to her community extended to her role as the treasurer for the Jim Thorpe Crimewatch at its inception and her volunteer work at the Halloween in the Park and National Night Out events.

Sara's love for sewing and crafts, along with her fondness for collecting snowmen and teapots, reflected her interesting and artistic nature. She was a woman who infused everything she did with love and kindness, touching the lives of many.

Sara's legacy is one of love, service, and the joy she found in the simple things. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye to Sara, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart generously given, and a spirit that will continue to inspire. Sara E. Solt will be deeply missed but her warmth and light will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 26, 2024 at 11 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church Jim Thorpe. Calling hour will be 10 am until the time of the service in church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
