Teresa Benyo
Teresa Benyo, 86, formerly of Coaldale, died on Monday. She was the widow of John Benyo, who died in 2006.
Prior to retiring, she had been employed at the former Van Huesen garment factory in Coaldale.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Lawrence) Firkal.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, Lansford, and a 1947 graduate of the former Coaldale High School.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane, wife of Atty. William Fries of Allentown, Mary, wife of Alex Shereba of Coaldale, and Joanne Benyo and her spouse, Lu, in Massachusettes; grandchildren, Christa, wife of Dan Jones, Matthew Shereba and his spouse, Katie, Kelly, wife of Matthew Stec, Jessica, wife of Michael Corcoran, Sarah, wife of Sean O'Connor; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kaden, Karter, Jack, Anna, Leah, Ella, Connor and Reagan.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Firkal; and sisters, Marie Moran and Helen Guzenski.
Service: Private, convenience of the family from the Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale. Interment, St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cemetery, Summit Hill. No calling hours.
