Todd H. Young

Todd H. Young, 95, of Palmerton, died Dec. 24, 2024. He was married to the late Doris (Costenbader) Young for 68 years beginning in July 1951.

He attended Muhlenburg College and graduated from the Bowman Technical School, Lancaster, with a background in watch repair, jewelry repair, and engraving. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1952-53, Todd returned home to Palmerton, where he owned and operated Young Jewelers from 1954-82.

Doris and Todd enjoyed spending summers for nearly 20 years in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where they spent time with Doris' sister, the late Joyce Litichevsky and her husband, Tony. Doris and Todd were also enthusiastic tour directors for countless trips that originated from Palmerton.

Survivors include sons, Arnold and companion, Angela Cole, of Palmerton, Eric and wife, Mallory, of Williamsburg, VA; grandsons, Jordan and wife, Liz, Tyler and partner, Aiden, and Peyton and wife, Zayra; and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Logan.

I appreciated the time that I knew Todd at The Palmerton.
He would always talk about his travels with his family which he loved, and he could always tell me about any history of Palmerton. He was a great guy and friend to everyone, and he will be missed! God bless him! My condolences go out to his family and friends!

As a young girl, I used to frequent Mr. Young´s jewelry store to buy charms for my charm bracelet! His mother, his wife, Doris, and Todd were always in the store. Always meticulously dressed and caring for their customers in the exact same manner!
Later, I got to know both Doris and Todd as members of my church! I enjoyed seeing them come in the Narthex of the church every Sunday morning. They were two of the most delightful couples I´ve ever known!
I have really missed see Mrs. Young at church every Sunday morning sitting in that back row with Todd and their son, Arnold! Even after she had passed away, Todd continued to attend services regularly.
When he moved to the Palmerton, I began visiting him. I enjoyed my visits with him. It was nothing to spend an hour to an hour and a half in the room just talking about old times and different individuals that we both came to know over the years! He was a wonderful person to hold a conversation! I soon learned some of his favorites and when I would come to visit, I would always leave one of his favorites behind whether it was a black bottom, cupcake, or M&M´s with peanuts or chocolate chip cookies!
I know that I will sorely miss this man. He has stamped a very fond relationship within my heart and I will never ever forget him!
Thank you for your service, my dear friend. Our country is grateful to have had an individual like you serving and protecting our freedoms. Rest easy soldier! Until we meet again.

So sad to see Todd is not with us anymore. He was quite the neighbor, enjoyed many conversations with him. He was sharp as could be. My thoughts are with the family. From our conversations he had a very very good life and I think he missed his wife.

I knew Todd from St John´s Towamensing Church. Recently I was reacquainted with him at The Palmerton. He and my son were table mates at all meals. He loved his crackers and graham crackers. He was also a good talker. He will be missed
