Arthur MARSHALL Obituary

MARSHALL Arthur, Jr. Arthur Marshall, Jr. of Toledo passed away in Parkcliffe of Northwood on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the age of 89. Art was born to Arthur and Loretta (Apple) Marshall, Sr. on March 26, 1922 in Toledo. He graduated from Woodward High School before entering the Navy. Art was the last living charter member of the North End American Legion Post #576 where he also served as Past Commander. While in the Navy he played on several softball teams and continued to play as well as manage teams for the American Legion. They were very proud of their accomplishments winning many awards and trophies. Art retired from the City of Toledo working as the Superintendant for many years at Ottawa Park Golf Course. Art was preceded in death by parents; wife of 62 years, Elaine; sisters, Louise Shultz, Eva Bremer, and Cora Bell Marshall. Left to cherish his memory are children, Arthur (Annette) Marshall III, Pamela Kolebuck and Michele (Bob) Helminski; grandchildren, Rachael and Chad Kolebuck, Nicole and Michael Barth, Gary Helminski, Jennifer Herrig, Kimberly Antanaitis, and Todd Marshall; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as brother; Paul (Eileen) Marshall. Visitation will begin on Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., and (419.726.1583). American Legion Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening. Funeral Services will begin on Monday, March 12, 2012, in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Ken Papenha-gen officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask those wishing to make memorial contributions to make them to either Heart-land Hospice or Alzheimer's Association. A heartfelt thank you from Art's family to the 'girls' at Parkcliffe for their excellent care and compassion given to their dad over the past 2 years it has been much appreciated. Michelle and all of the Marshall Family,
I am so sorry to learn of Art's passing. I know it has indeed been a long, bittersweet goodbye. I'm so sorry for your heartache.
I will never forget your dad's sweet smile and his genuine personality.
I feel fortunate that we had the opportunity to have him reside with us for awhile. God Bless all of you and may your memories bring you smiles when the tears are gone.
