Barbara Veronie Obituary
March 10, 1934 - March 29, 2024
Barbara J. Veronie, age 90, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at home surrounded by family. She was born on March 10, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio to Samuel and Della Williams. She married her husband, John Veronie on June 11, 1955, he preceded her in death in 2020. Barbara was a graduate of Waite High School and worked as a manager for Sterling Food Store for over 20 years. Barbara was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and involved with the Young at Heart Group. Barbara was a 40-year cancer survivor, and volunteered with the Reach to Recovery Program at St. Vincent Medical Center for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed making plastic canvas pieces and selling them at area craft shows. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her children, Katherine (Robert) Bernstein, Kristine (Frank) Reder, Constantina (Brian) MacVay, and Beth (David) Slaughterbeck; grandchildren, Nicholas Slaughterbeck, Benjamin (Allison) Slaughterbeck, Andrea (fiancé, Bennard Fajardo) MacVay, Stephanie MacVay, Anastasia Reder, and Alexandra (Nathan) Whiteside; great-grandson, Grayson Slaughterbeck; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and siblings, Donald Keyes, George, Robert, and Richard Williams, and Genny Hanely.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road in Oregon, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 2:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. where Trisagion Prayers will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral where family will greet guests after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral or Ohio Living Hospice.
