Bonnie (Bergan) Paskiet, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and daughters on June 21, 2023, in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. She was born on November 13, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, to Jim and Esther Bergan.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Marty; daughters, Carrie (Ed) Francis and Amanda (Jim) Stephenson; sisters, Brenda (Rodger) Kern and Bev (Ken) Coss; brother, Tim (Theresa) Bergan; grandsons, Zach (Nora) Francis, Jacob (Kayla) Francis, Grisha Francis and Cole Stephenson; and great-granddaughters, Nova and Zaelia Francis. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dan Bergan.
Bonnie grew up in Maumee, Ohio and spent much of her summers with her family at their cottage on Clark's Lake in Michigan. She met Marty while working for 7-Up and they married in 1968. They lived near a horse stable while Marty was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina where Bonnie developed a love of horses and became an avid rider.
Bonnie and Marty eventually moved to Holland, Ohio where they raised their two daughters. Bonnie coached and played softball, played bingo, and drove her daughters to their numerous dance lessons and sports practices. She volunteered at the annual Our Lady of Lourdes church festival and served as treasurer for the annual Holland Strawberry Festival. She worked at American Frame in Maumee for several years while she pursued her associate's degree in accounting at the University of Toledo Community and Technical College. She worked various accounting and retail jobs.
Bonnie will be remembered for her warmth, infectious smile, and sharp sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family, especially giving treats to her great-granddaughters. She also loved to dance and loved watching crime shows and The Hallmark Channel, especially at Christmas. Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 6149 Hill Ave., Toledo, Ohio on Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes church.
