Carol McCloud Obituary

Carol Jean Eckstein McCloud

Carol Jean Eckstein McCloud, age 83, passed away on November 29, 2024. Carol was born on September 9, 1941, to parents Ernest and Helen (Krompak) Eckstein. Carol was a lifelong resident of Toledo, attending St. Catherine's grade school, and graduating from St. Ursula Academy. After raising her children, Carol went on to work for Ohio Citizen's Bank/PNC Bank for over 20 years.

In 1960, Carol married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Robert McCloud II. They went on to share the next 55 years together, until Bob's passing in 2016. Bob and Carol raised four children together, and valued family more than anything. Carol always looked forward to Sundays, when family would come over and spend the day by the pool. Even though she didn't enjoy cooking, she was an excellent cook, and made dishes that showed her pride in her Hungarian heritage.

Music and dancing were constant companions throughout Carol's life. She could often be found listening to artists including Bob Seger, James Taylor, and The Eagles. Carol used music to bring her family together, and her joy in dancing was evident in her infectious smile.

Carol loved to travel all over the world. Greece, Italy, Ireland, Turks and Caicos, and Coral Cay in Ft. Lauderdale were just some of the many places she was able to see. Carol also loved to see the beauty closer to home, taking many walks in Wildwood Metropark, and spending hours each summer cultivating her garden.

Carol lived a full life, playing cards and drinking white wine with the "Circle of Friends", volunteering for Toledo Hospital and The American Red Cross, reading books, and even being featured in a Cold Power Detergent commercial. Her family will always remember and miss her for her joy, her love, and her exceptional spirit.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marilyn Dirr. She is survived by her children, Robert (Nanette) McCloud III, Michael (Kelly Cochrell-McCloud) McCloud, Kristin (Brad) Lockridge, and Jennifer (Gus) Mancy; grandchildren, Justin McCloud, Kaylee McCloud, Lauren (Kyle) Elkins, Logan (Kory) Hunter, Leah (Alexander Theiss) McCloud, Andru Lockridge, Evan Lockridge, Jon Mancy, Olivia Mancy, and Joey Mancy; great-grandchildren, Liam Elkins, Lyla Elkins, and soon-to-be-born Baby Hunter; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, George Francis.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. A celebration of life will be held after the service at Mancy's Italian Grill, 5453 Monroe St., Toledo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Carol's family would like to offer special thanks to Glass Peaks Memory Care and Ohio Living Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care.
