Charles Byram Obituary

Charles Byram DDS

March 29, 1944 - May 11, 2024

Dr. Charles David Byram died on May 11, 2024 from a tragic fall at Whiskeytown Recreational Area near his home in Redding, California.

"Chuck" was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 29, 1944, the son of Robert and Bernice (Burgin) Byram. He attended McKinley grade school, DeVilbiss high school, and the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. After earning his degree, he taught Biology at Whitney High School in Toledo. Deciding on a career change, he attended Case Western Reserve Dental School. Following graduation, he served 2 years in the Navy, and was stationed on Guam and in Long Beach, California. After the Navy, he practiced dentistry for almost 50 years in the San Francisco Bay and Redding areas.

He leaves behind sisters, Jane (George) Pavuk Toledo, Barb (Chris) Byram Parma, Ohio; step children, Joe and Amanda Arnold whom he raised and loved as his own; nephews, Joe Pavuk, Michael (Chelsea) Pavuk; cousins, Sally Burgin, Mary Ann (Steve) Jenkins; lifelong steadfast friends, Tom Denman, Ken Kapley, Ernie Hey, Jonathan Miles and many more. Chuck's interests were varied, with a passion for airplanes, building model airplanes, sailing, cooking, copious reading, and making friends. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh. The world is a lesser place without him and he will be sorely missed.

A memorial service to scatter his ashes will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio on October 19th at 11:30 a.m.
