Charles Yackee Obituary

YACKEE Charles E. "Chuck" "Chopper" Charles E. "Chuck" or "Chopper" Yackee, 67, of Manitou Beach, Michigan, formerly of Wauseon, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born in Wauseon on July 31, 1940, to Lewis L. and Helen M. (Kolb) Yackee. He married Marilyn Tietje on October 15, 1966, in Napoleon and she survives. He was an Army veteran and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon and attended Lutheran Church of the Lakes, Manitou Beach, Michigan. He was a lifelong barber in Wauseon and in Michigan. He owned and operated Wauseon Refuse service 1979-1992. He was a Wauseon fireman from 1965-1985 and Assistant Chief. He played in a jazz band, the Lil' Abners, for many years. He was an Elks and Wauseon Sportsman's Club member. Surviving are wife, Marilyn D. Yackee, Manitou Beach, MI; one son, Monty (Kassia) Yackee, Tecumseh, MI; 3 grandchildren, Jarrad Williams, Jacob Williams, Luke Yackee; great-grandson, Ian Williams; one brother, James (Christine) Yackee, Wauseon. He was preceded in death by parents. Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon. Rev. Timothy Sonnenberg, Rev. Roger Marlow officiating. Interment in Wauseon Union Cemetery. Friends may call 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday in Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon. Memorial contributions to charity of family choice. www.grisierfh.com
