Christopher Leach Obituary

LEACH

Christopher A.

Sunrise February 4, 1986

Sunset July 16, 2013

Christopher A. Leach, age 27, formerly of Toledo, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. He currently was serving in the U.S. Army in Barstow, California, Ft. Irwin Army Base. While in the military as a Staff Sargent, Christopher was able to see the world by traveling and experiencing many different cultures. He completed one tour of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and during his seven years in the U. S. Army, he achieved many honors and awards.

Christopher had a wonderful sense of humor, and he could bring a smile to anyone's face. He was a beloved nephew and cousin; he especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his cousin, Kennedi. In his spare time, he loved to ride his motorcycle and build on his mechanical expertise.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Rolland F. Price, and Rosalind Leach; uncle and aunt, Gilbert T. Jones, and Yvette D. Jones; cousins, Kennedi, Robert Jr., and special sister; a host of many other family members, and dear friends from all over the world. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Miss Brown and great-aunt, Leona Brown, who were very important to Christopher.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be rendered.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SSG Chris A. Leach our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Chris. And to Chris it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the selfless sacrifices he made for his country while serving in the U.S. Army, including a deployment in support of Iraqi Freedom. No greater patriotism is shown than a man lay down his life in service to his country. Chris, you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. You are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Chris' family and loved ones.
