Daniel Mattimoe Obituary

Daniel James Mattimoe

May 5, 1950 - January 8, 2026

Daniel James Mattimoe, 75, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away January 8, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born May 5, 1950, in Toledo, Dan was the son of Timothy Paul Mattimoe and Virginia Mattimoe (McPhillips).

Dan was a student at Blessed Sacrament and Central Catholic High School, where he met his wife, Sandra, who he married in 1973. His career included six years working for the railroad and over 30 years at Jeep/Chrysler.

Dan played saxophone in his youth and maintained a lifelong love of jazz, especially Charlie Parker. He cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes and was happiest fishing on Lake Erie. His travels took him to northern Michigan and Florida, where he loved to scuba dive and deep-sea fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Lee Mattimoe (Blyth); sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Seely and Caroline Desbeouff; and good friends, Derek Evans, Timothy "Pig" Evans, and Jeff Links.

Dan is survived by his children, Rachel Jenneman (Michael) and Nathan Mattimoe (Sarah); siblings, Tim Mattimoe (Karen), Ellen Carol (Bob), Kathleen Iott (Jerry), Shelia Bukowski (Bob), Susan Mattimoe, and Julia Park; and grandchildren, Tabor Wordelman, Alex Jenneman, and Rowan Jenneman.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, at 3 p.m., with a short service at 7 p.m., at Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo.

The family would like to thank the nurses at St. Anne Hospital, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, and everyone at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Paws and Whiskers Toledo or Hospice of Northwest Ohio are welcome.
