David Michael Smith, age 77 years old, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on July 30, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, with his loving family by his side. David attended Morenci High School and began his working career with Toledo Steel Tube, after 12 years of employment, followed by Baron Drawn Steel, for 25 years, and lastly, Excel Trucking, for 4 years, until his retirement. In his spare time, David read the newspaper, enjoyed playing golf and softball, and was on the UAW Bowling League for many years. He often watched NASCAR and had a passion for cars, specifically his 1984 Corvette. David loved to travel with his wife, Ireta. Together, they were able to visit all 50 states, and created many fond memories doing so. They were season ticket holders for the Mudhens, for many years, and also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers play.

David M. Smith was born on August 17, 1946, the son of Richard Almon and Mildred Ethel (Capshaw) Smith. David married Ireta Kay Copeland on January 29, 1966, and she survives.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ireta Kay (Copeland) Smith; daughters, Brenda M. Smith Martin, and Jody L. (Dale) Smith Kaminski; grandchildren, Justin M. (Alanna) Smith, Amanda (Alan Hunter) Romer, and Clarissa Romer; step-granddaughter, Taylor Kaminski; step-great-grandson, Wyatt Kaminski; and 15 nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason Smith; siblings, Billie J. Brueggemann Hall, Larry J. Smith, Robert D. Smith, James C. Smith, and Joseph S. Smith.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Secor Room – Secor Metropark, Central Ave, Berkey, OH 43528, on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately in Lyons, Ohio.
