David Wainwright

David Wainwright, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on March 14, 1962 to William and Helen Wainwright. He will be watching over his wife Janis Wainwright, sons Joshua (Ashley) Wainwright, Jacob (Sara) Wainwright, grandson on the way, and beloved fur-babies Izzy, Remington and Moses.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Wainwright. He leaves behind siblings, Christine (Dan) Soviar, Lisa Bousson, William Wainwright, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

David worked 30 years for Hunger Hydraulics in Rossford, Ohio. His greatest joy was spending time with is his family. Always eager to talk about proud moments of his boys and the love he had for his wife. The outdoors is where he felt most at home, with many camping, hiking, and hunting trips including time at the cabin in Southeastern Ohio, which he considered his Happy Place and often referred to it as God's country. He spent his free time volunteering at Cedar Creek Church. The last four years serving as ministry leader for Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step faith based recovery program, where he was instrumental in helping countless others. His outgoing personality allowed him to create friendships whether brief or everlasting where ever he went.

One of Dave's biggest passions was the concept of the Three-Legged Stool – Bible Reading, Fellowship, and Prayer. His desire throughout his illness was to bring honor to God. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The 406 Fund, created by the Wainwright family, which provides life application bibles to Young Life Ministry. Checks can be made payable to Young Life Ministries, referencing "The 406 Fund" in the memo and sent to PO BOX 94, Ida, MI 48140.

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude towards his caregivers at Toledo Hospital, Flower Inpatient Rehab, Flower Hospital ICU, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. David was always quick to thank every person that walked into his room – no matter the role in his caregiving. Through that he continued to be an inspiration to all of us. Even in his death he wanted to be of use to others, so his body was donated to UTMC for medical research.

A celebration of life will be held at Cedar Creek Church - Perrysburg Campus on Saturday, January 20th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a celebration of life service at 10:00am and a luncheon to immediately follow.

"Seek first the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." Matthew 6:33
