Donna Mercurio Obituary
Donna Mae (Poling) 7/17/1927 - 7/9/2016
Donna Mae (Poling) Mercurio was well known for her love and dedication to family. She met husband Bill at just fifteen years old, while working as a soda jerk at the local pharmacy. They were sweethearts for the next 45 years, raising eleven children together. Donna spent her time tending to the home, caring for children and grandchildren, keeping books for the family business, and devoutly attending services at Immaculate Conception Church.
A reserved and thoughtful woman, Donna did not want fanfare when her time came. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Virgil Poling and Ida (Dennis) Poling; husband, William G. Mercurio Sr.; sons, William G. Mercurio Jr. and George B. Mercurio; and sister, Suzanne (Poling) Restivo. Donna is survived by children, Michele Mercurio (Joe Reiter), Kathleen Mercurio Szabo (Norm Heineman), Denise Palija (Michael), Cynthia Skodak (Tim), Daria Mercurio, Donna Mercurio (Rick Ehrbar), Janice Mercurio; Roy Mercurio (Penny), Ann Mercurio (Gary Plush), Ira Mercurio (Lisa), Ida Mercurio (Mike Griffin Sr.). Donna is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will include a celebration of life for family members only. As published in The Blade

Your mom lived a full and long life with gusto, surviving the loss of two children and a husband, while still maintaining interest in travel and life in general. She was a wonderful friend to our mother as they raised big Catholic families in the unsettling 60's. May she rest in peace and may your memories bring you comfort.

Dear mercurio family, you were truly blessed to have such a wonderful mom. She always had a smile and kind words each and every time we met. I arrived back in Port Clinton on Sunday and was saddened to hear of her death.
