Edward Siminiak Obituary

Edward "Ed" W. Siminiak

11/25/1929 - 10/24/2021

Edward "Ed" W. Siminiak (91) passed away in his home on October 24, 2021 in Laguna Woods, California. A Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, Father, Father-in-Law, Uncle, Confidante, Friend to Many, and Life Partner, Edward is a native Ohioan, the youngest of 5 siblings, born to Metro & Mary Siminiak on November 25, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio.

Upon graduation from Woodward High School in Toledo, Ed was selected to serve his country in combat with the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Upon his transition to the civilian community, and having worked at various business staples in the Toledo area, to include Libbey Owens Ford, Ed went on to join the Toledo Police Department in 1959. Ed retired from the Toledo Police Department after 25 years of service in 1984.

Ed met the love of his life and married Doris (Burden) Siminiak in 1955. Ed and Doris had 2 wonderful sons - Edward, who was born in 1956 and Bruce, who was born in 1963. Ed was a very religious man and a very devout Catholic with an exceptionally strong faith in God, which enabled him to deal with the challenges encountered with the multiple loss of loved ones that he faced during his lifetime. Ed's wife Doris died in 1978. Ed's son Edward died in 2000. Ed had remarried in 1988 to Kathleen (Szabo) Siminiak who passed away in 2002. He was a regular parishioner at St Catherine of Siena Church in Toledo, Ohio and upon his move to California, Ed was a parishioner at Corpus Christi Church in Aliso Viejo, California.

Ed loved spending time with family, talking, reminiscing, and laughing…and having an occasional cold adult beverage. Edward was also an avid bowler, participating in several bowling leagues in both Ohio and California, achieving a perfect 300 game on multiple occasions.

Ed has 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom he loved and cherished. He is remembered as a loving and caring man.

Ed is survived by his son, Bruce Siminiak; daughters-in-law, Barb (Wagner) Siminiak, Chris (Storrjohann) Siminiak; grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Noonan, Tiffani Siminiak, Justin (Angela) Siminiak, Christian Siminiak, Brandi Siminiak; great-grandchildren, Patience, Merci, Gracin, Harmony Noonan, Avery and Landon Siminiak.

Edward's partner, close friend, confidante and bowling partner for the last 10 years, Charlene Gummere, provided great happiness to Ed.

The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, OH 43623 on Thursday November 18, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 19, 2021 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4555 N.
