Eleanore Siegel Obituary

SIEGEL Eleanore J. Eleanore J. Siegel of Monroe, MI and originally of Toledo, OH died Saturday, June 14, 2008, while under Hospice Care in Boca Raton, FL following a six week stay with her granddaughter, Stephanie Brovenick. Born in Toledo, OH the daughter of Louis and Eva Feldman Joffa, she was a graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School and The Toledo Conservatory of Music where she also taught Ballet. She married Myron R. Siegel, also of Toledo, on February 4, 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1996. A former co-owner of Joffa Original Jewelers of Monroe, MI from 1955 until 1972, she also was co-owner and treasurer of Siegel's Inc. of Monroe, MI along with her husband, Myron, the founder of Siegel's Honda. During WWII she was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Red Cross Motors Corps and remained an active Red Cross volunteer in Monroe, MI as well as many other community involvements including charter member of the Monroe Thrift Shop, Rotary Club of Monroe, Monroe Country Club, charter member of Temple B'nai Israel of Monroe, MI, as well as life member of Hadassah and Congregation B'nai Israel in Toledo, OH. In her leisure time she enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as being a Detroit Tiger's fan. Also preceding her besides her parents and husband were siblings, Charlotte Stone, Gertrude Woodruff, and Howard Joffa. Surviving are her son, Larry Siegel of Monroe, MI; granddaughter, Stephanie (Justin) Brovenick of Boca Raton, FL; grandson, Geoffrey (Patti Wood) Siegel of Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren, Cooper Brovenick and Carter Brovenick; also sister-in-law, Ruth Joffa. Services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery. Following services family and friends will be received at Temple B'nai Israel, Monroe, MI. Memorial tributes suggested in the form of contributions to Temple B'nai Israel, Monroe, MI c/o Jack Katz, 440 Hollywood Dr., Monroe, MI 48162.
