Frederick Adam "Fred" Gibbs Jr.

Frederick Gibbs Obituary

GIBBS Frederick "Fred" Adam Frederick "Fred" Adam Gibbs Jr., 46, of Whitehouse, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 24, 2008, after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was a dearly devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle, who cherished spending time with his family and has made a lifetime of unforgettable memories for his loved ones to carry with them. Fred was born January 13, 1962, one of six children to Fred and Kathy Gibbs. He attended Gesu Grade School, St. Francis High School and The University of Toledo and also honorably served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Panama. Fred had been a supervisor at Libbey Glass, working there for 18 years until his cancer treatments kept him from giving 100%. Fred loved to fish, especially with his son, Cody, follow Buckeye Football, play cards with his family, and could usually be seen outside in his yard, yet starting another project or just cutting his grass to perfection. Fred leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sue; his children, Lindsey, Kaileigh and Cody; his parents, Fred and Kathy Gibbs; his brothers, Dan (Jenny), David, Scott (Cheryl); his sisters, Mary Anne (Tony Wolff), and Lisa Talley; grandmother, Marion Meiers; mother-in-law, Patricia Steinbart; brother-in-law, Ben Steinbart; sister-in-law, Sandy Steinbart and all his loving nieces and nephews, Zachary, Zoe, Tyler, Jacob, Betsy, Jimmy, and Kate. Fred was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie Meiers Sr. and George and Frieda Gibbs and his father-in-law, Bernie Steinbart. Family and friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Gesu Church at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff of Dr. Bahu Shaikh, Dr. Wm. Mueller and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care, especially for allowing them to keep Fred at home until the Lord called him peacefully away. I am so sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Fred was when he came in to pick up Cody at school, and I noticed that when he smiled, he and Cody have the same smile, the kind that lights up your whole face. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathy to Fred's family. I worked closely with him for 4 years at Libbey when he was a factory supervisor. He was the most well-liked supervisor on "B" shift. I also worked with him in the warehouse. He was a wonderful, caring person.
