Gary Richard Geisel, 74, of Perrysburg, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital. Gary was born October 5, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to Robert and Mary (Popelik) Geisel. Gary married Marie Konczal on September 12, 1969, and they shared 53 years together.
Gary proudly served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned the USMC sharpshooter award. After the military, Gary worked as an Ohio State Trooper for 17 years and earned the ACE award in 1976. He also served as a City Councilman in Waterville, OH. Gary loved his dog, Kevin, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Aaron and Robin Geisel, Christian and Doranne Geisel, Clare and Larry Hinz, Regina and James Kaczorowski, Nina Lepiarz, Nicholas and Amber Geisel, Monica and Ben Hutchisson and Bridget Carpenter; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nine siblings. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father; brother, Robert Joseph; sister-in-law, Sharon; and grandchild, Samuel.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH, where a memorial mass will begin at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Wow, I went to grade and high school with Gary. So sorry to see of his passing, but how Awesome to be seeing the face of Jesus. I remember well the house you lived in across from the park. I made plenty of walks around that corner trying to catch to see you home back in seventh and eighth grade. Then you went on to Stritch but you had other interest back then.
I had heard long ago that you had married Marie, and she was my friend in high school. So we both picked someone Awesome.
I pray for Marie now, for the strength to get through this, and your immediate family. Never get over something like this. But, you will have a great reunion when your all in Heaven someday. Well we all graduated in 1966. A great year at that.
Marie, my prayers are with you. Be strong, and know Gary is waiting for you patiently.
