1954 - 2025
Gary Michalski, age 71, of South Toledo, passed away peacefully at his home on July 28, 2025. Born on July 17, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio, Gary was the beloved son of Dorothy and William Michalski. Gary was the middle child, positioned between his older brother, Bill, and younger sister, Cathy. Gary spent his life in the Toledo area, a 1972 graduate of Rogers High School.
Gary married the love of his life, Molly (Lynch), on July 16, 1977, at St. Charles, with his brother, Bill, proudly standing by his side as best man. Together, Gary and Molly raised three children, Amy, Gary Jr., and Steven. Molly, his cherished wife, passed away prematurely in 1995.
Gary had a lifelong passion for cars, especially Cadillacs, and was well-known for his love of the outdoors. An avid fisherman, Gary spent countless days on Lake Erie chasing walleye and perch from the helm of one of his boats. He also loved watching football, including his two sons competing on the gridiron, Gary Jr. and Steven. Gary was a die-hard fan of both the Ohio State Buckeyes and the San Francisco 49ers. When Gary wasn't working at Johns Mansville, Gary was enjoying life to the fullest-always ready with a cold beverage and a good story to share.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Amy Michalski; and sons, Gary (Caroline) Michalski and Steven (Kenya) Michalski; his two siblings, Bill (Dianna) Michalski and Cathy (Michael) Dougherty; and his nieces and nephews. He was a devoted and proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Kenley, Karley, Kali, Khloe, Zoey, Phoenix, and Jack. In his later years, he was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Amy.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Molly; his parents, William and Dorothy; and niece, Carry.
Family and friends are invited to gather at St. Charles Catholic Church, 1842 Airport Hwy., on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Visitation with family will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Gary will be remembered for his humor, his love of family, and his spirited approach to life.
