Gary Varner Obituary

Gary Lynn Varner

Gary Lynn Varner passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the age of 72. Gary was born in Toledo on May 17, 1951. He retired from GM Powertrain where he worked for over 20 years as an electrician. He enjoyed many hobbies in his lifetime, including scuba diving and playing guitar. He loved music and listening to his favorite tunes. Gary had a beloved pet parrot named Max for nearly 20 years. Gary was very generous to his family and friends. While he never had any children of his own, he acted as a second father figure to his beloved nieces. He was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness for many years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark Varner and Douglas Varner; father, Nathan Varner; and mother, Arlene Varner. He is survived by his nieces, Shannon (David Schertz) Varner, Jennifer (Richard) Jagodzinski, Julie Kurdziel, Michelle (Brent Cooper) Varner, Anna Varner; nephew, Jason (Rachel) Varner; as well as several great-nieces; and several great-nephews.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Holland Community Building, 940 Clarion Avenue, Holland, Ohio 43528. Arrangements were entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, Toledo. Online condolences to the family may be made at:
