Genevieve Kikolski, age 96, of Toledo, died Friday, October 30, 2015, at Genesis Healthcare, Sylvania Center. Genevieve was born on September 8, 1919, in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph A. and Mary (Wojtkowiak) Zawierucha. As a young student at Parkland Elementary School, Genevieve began a friendship with Helen (Mackiewicz) Bowers which would last a lifetime. Genevieve was very academically gifted in school and majored in business at Woodward High School, graduating in 1937.

Following high school, Genevieve began a long career as a legal secretary, working for an attorney in the Lagrange Street area. She married Louis Kikolski and they enjoyed extensive travel together, photographing and filming their adventures. She had a love of gardening, especially flower gardening and was gifted at many handicrafts, especially knitting and crocheting, completing many lovely items over the years. She celebrated her Polish heritage heartily and enjoyed learning Polish history, folk dancing, listening to music and corresponding with friends and relatives in Poland.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; younger brother, and dear friend, Helen Bowers. She is survived by Helen's daughter, Pamela Bowers of Dayton, Ohio.

Friends may gather on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 9 a.m. until funeral services begin at noon in the Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, 2907 Lagrange Street, Toledo (419) 244-4611. Interment will follow in The Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at:
