George Brimmer Obituary

BRIMMER George Aldrich Dad "Bud" passed away peacefully early Monday morning, August 28, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Dad was born in the Green Mountains of Vermont on May 20, 1919, and was a World War II Veteran in the Army Signal Corp. While on leave from the army he met the love of his life, Margaret Ann Herman of Genoa Ohio. Dad proposed marriage on the first day they met, under a bridge along the Merrimack River in Manchester, NH. They corresponded for three years while Dad completed his tour of duty in India and they married on November 29, 1945. Mom and Dad started their family in Adams, Massachusetts and moved to Toledo in 1950. Dad worked for Libbey Owens Ford for 30 years and later realized his dream of owning his own business (the Seneca Motel on Navarre Avenue in Oregon, Ohio). Dad was a competitive card player and avid fisherman. He also loved to play ping pong and was an accomplished bowler. Dad was preceded in death by Mom "Mama Doll"; his parents, H. Green and Fannie Brimmer; sisters, Millicent Trimarchi, Amy Sorrel, Rachel Brimmer and brother, Clifford Brimmer. He is survived by his six children, Cathy (Steve) Helton, Phyllis (Dale) Seymour, Mike Brimmer, George (Carol) Brimmer II, Paul (Jacqui) Brimmer, Rick (Ceil) Brimmer. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Biz) Bisson and Buffy (Jimmy) Harris. We want to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care and support during Dad's last days. The family requests that any donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In accordance with Dad's wishes burial will be private. Family and friends may visit at Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, located at 830 Lime City Road, Rossford,OH on Wednesday, August 30th from 5-8 p.m.

I had the pleasure of knowing George and Margaret Ann when they lived at Luther Hills and I was the Service Coordinator. I have fond memories of our talks about Vermont since my family is from the same area.My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
