George HEARD Obituary

HEARD George W. Jr. George Washington Heard Jr., 92, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012. My father was born in Elberton, GA on September 20, 1919 to the late George Sr. and Ella Mae (Bowman) Heard. He moved to Toledo in 1936 before joining the United States Army, where he served as a Sergeant during WWII (1942-1946). After being honorably discharged, he worked at Splendor of Toledo for over 35 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed working around the house and could fix and build almost anything. He was also an avid Detroit Tiger's Fan. In 1953, my father married my mother, Doris Spinks, and had two daughters. He is survived by me, his daughter, Reginia M. Heard "Jeannie"; granddaughter, LaShawn R. Heard of Athens, GA; great-grandchildren, Constance, Cheyanne, Dedrique, Kaydric and Kydia; cousins, Albert Bowman and Janice Washington. My father was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Ann Heard; his parents; his brothers and sisters, James, Thomas, Alonso, Pope, Doris and Thelma; cousins, Olivia, James Jr., Kenneth and Leon. Special mention goes out to the following people: JB "Bo" Boatman, Charlene Chatman, Jennie Abernathy, Maggie Loudermill, Valerie Algee and Joann Marnie. Per my father's wishes, there will be no services.

Jeannie,
Thinking of you...
I remember well how kind your Dad was-and always had warm a smile for all of us growing-up; Even when the music was too loud (smile). We pray that loving memories help you through this time.
