Glenn Gundy Obituary

GUNDY Glenn A. Glenn A. Gundy, age 60, of Rainy Lake, formerly of Temperance, MI, passed away August 18, 2006, at his home. Glenn was born August 23, 1945, in Bowling Green, OH, to Glenn A. and Margaret (Young) Gundy. He was married to Susan J. Kneeshaw on August 27, 1966 in St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Toledo, OH. Glenn moved permanently to Rainy Lake in 2001 from Temperance, but had been visiting and vacationing in the Onaway and and Black Lake area for 40 years. He retired in 1996 from the Local 8 in Toledo, OH, where he had worked as a journeyman electrician. Glenn was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the marine corp. Nine years ago, after spending an entire year in the hospital, Mr. Gundy was the recipient of a new heart. Glenn's family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Tom Walsh and the entire heart transplant team at the Medical University of Ohio. Glenn is survived by his wife, Susan, of Rainy Lake; daughter, Victoria (Bryan) Kruzynski of Millersburg; son, Eric Gundy of Rainy Lake; sisters, Laura (Zane) Billings of Livonia, MI, Myra (Wendell) Philpott of Murfreesboro, TN, and twin sister, Ruth (Ken) Weber of Swanton, OH, and his faithful friend and pet dog, Paws. He is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Margaret Gundy. A Memorial Service with military honors by the VFW Post #2984 of Northwood, will be Saturday, August 26, at 11 a.m. at the Local 8 Union Hall, 807 Lime City Rd., Rossford, OH. Glenn's family will receive friends at the union hall from 9am until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life or to your local humane society.

With much sympathy on your loss. I lived down the street from your family on Scottwood when I was a little girl. Ruth used to take me to Bible School at Glenwood Lutheran Church.My family was the Birminghams.

Dear Susan, Victoria, Eric, and sisters Laura, Myra and Ruth:

I recall Glenn fondly. I was a student at Glenwood Elem in Toledo with Ruth and Glenn. A very bright guy. Tough. But compassionate. I was saddened to read of his passing so soon. At age 60 was still young. So many things to have done.

A Marine Corps Veteran! Semper Fi ! Rest in peace and suffer no more pain my Vietnam Veteran brother!
