Dearest Myrna ands children, my son-in-law Bruce Ferris just informed me of Howard's recent passing. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you. I speak of Howard as if I'd only had one boss in my life. His being my friend for so many years, long ago in the 1980s, and my friendship with you bring up so many memories and I pray his passing was one of being comforted by you all. My condolences go out to you all. Mary (Apt) Anderson

Howard has touched so many lives. I remember meeting him for the first time, about 30 years, up at Carr Park in Michigan. He had a warm smile, with an infectious laugh. Always made everyone feel welcomed in the volleyball community. I met his beautiful wife, Myrna, many years later as a coworker and friend. My heart goes out to you, Myrna. Life will never be the same without your Howard, but Im here with open arms. Love to you and the family

Our families grew up together in the Old North End. My brothers and I (along with many of the neighborhood kids) played small lot softball games Mr. Loo organized after school and on weekends at the corner of Walnut & Ontario streets. He was always kind, caring and fun to be around. We knew his son Hal and hung out at their house sometimes. May he rest in peace.

At age 19 I met Howard and his beautiful loving family, and fell instantly in love with them all! Ironically I would later have the the honor of marrying into his wonderful extended family.
It was at the age of 19 that Howard took a chance on me, and hired me to work as a waitress in his then restaurant, H'Loo's, but frankly at the time I wasn't a great server; immaturity stood in my way. So it was on a New Years Eve that Howard, at the end my shift, sat me down and gave me my exit notice, but took the time to give me some important fatherly life advice in his uniquely humorous way that only he could give, taking the sting out of just having been fired, that has served me well throughout my life! Howard are a one-in-a-million soul and your memory will be eternal!
God bless you and your beautiful family, who are your greatest big beautiful legacy and each and everyone who's lives you have touched! And your life advice you shared with me so long ago did not fall on deaf ears :) Thank you!
Namaste Howard.

Mike and children, so very sorry to hear about Howard's passing. He was a great person, as a friend and a boss. I worked for him at H'Loos and learned a lot of my people-skills from him. My memories of him and all of you are many, but the best ones are the card games at your house. My prayers are with all of you.

One of the nicest, caring and funniest men that I can say I had the privilege of having in my family. I still tell some of the jokes he shared with me thru out my life, and still try to duplicate his kung foo grip when shaking hands. RIP UNCLE You will be missed but never forgotten. Love you
