Jim was one of my big brothers. I will miss him so much. We saw each other in the summer when we would go back to Baltimore. There are things I will always cherish about him, but the one thing that stands out the most is the advice he gave me regarding friends. I was about 16 or 17 and having a rough time, sitting in the kitchen he said "Pamela, if you get through life with two good friends, you are lucky." That is what has gotten me through the rough patches in life.
Lisa you know I will always be here for you. You and Jim have taken Mike and I through alot and we really enjoyed the times we were with you and the kids.

Dear Lisa and all the Byers family,
I just read about Jim's passing this morning and wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Seeing his name brought back a rush of wonderful memories of Boy Scouts, High School, and the days of our early adult lives. I am better for having known Jim and sorry that we lost touch with each other over the years. I know he was a good man, husband and father and he will be missed.
God Bless you all

Dear Lisa and Byers Family,
I just heard the news about Jim. My heart goes out to you all at this time of great loss. I worked with Jim at broad creek scout camp and was also a family friend from Forest Hill Maryland. I shared many good times in the past with the Byers clan when we were younger. He will be missed. I have not seen Jim in many years but I know he was a great Father and Husband he was certianly a great Friend. May god bless you all.

Lisa,
The McCartneys have not stopped thinking of you and your children, and we have been storming heaven's gates with prayers for your consolation and peace. Like all of your friends in Old Orchard and at Gesu, we are united with you during this tragedy and will watch for any opportunity to be of help and support. Friendly encounters with Jim on the sidewalks of our neighborhood were frequent and pleasant, and the loss of his presence is felt by all. May he rest in peace.

Dear Byers Family,
I worked with Jim at UT. His office was across the hall, and he stopped by every day and made me laugh. I am shocked and saddened by this news, but I recall Jim's stories about your large and loving family. His devoted friends, family and the love of all who remember him will ensure his memory lives on.

Dear Lisa and family,
We were saddened and shocked to hear about Jim's sudden death. Please accept our condolences and prayers at this trying time for all of you. From our conversations, his love for you and the children was obvious. He brought his youth and expertise to the college and department and will be sadly missed. I regret not being able to see him when I visited the college a couple weeks ago to say hello.

Uncle Jimmy,
Im sitting here thinking about you. I still hasnt clicked that you are gone. Mabey thats because your not. I am thinking back to the last hug i gave you. Not in a lifetime would i think it would be the last. I can still feel your heart beat against my head. We are leaving in the morning to go to your house. I think i my head over and over. Why you? You have always done things to help others. Never once will Sarah nor John ever regret having you as their father. You are my Uncle. My moms older brother. The funniest person i have ever met. You would do anything to try to get someone to laugh. A part of me just wants to brake down and cry, and sometimes thats what i find myselfe doing, but the other part of me is telling me that i need to be strong for mommy and grandma and papa and sarah and john and aunt lisa. Well we all love you, and i will miss you more then anybody could ever comprehend. And if you havnt already, find my grandfather. He will show you around. Hes been up there for about 3 months now. I know he will show you around. Love you Uncle Jimmy. (and i know this is my second entry, but i just had to talk to you again.)

Jim, my friend, I always looked forward to seeing you again on this earth. Now I will miss you but will look back with fondness on our years together as neighbors. I feel empty and said tonight, but I am confident that we will certainly meet again one day in a better place and in the presence of our Lord. God is with you Lisa, Sarah and John. In fact, it is promised in the book of Matthew, "blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Keep your chins up. Keep the faith. And we'll be in touch with you in the days ahead.
Love Always,
John, Lisa, Justin & Ian
