James Jardine Obituary

JARDINE James A. James A. "J.J. " Jardine, 78, of Ottawa Hills, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 10, 1930, in Jamaica, Long Island, New York, the son of the late James and Marjorie Jardine. Jim attended Peter Stuyvesant High School, New York City, served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, and then attended the University of Dayton. He was in management, engineering, and sales for several companies, the most recent being the ARO Corporation in Bryan, Ohio where he was a district manager. Jim enjoyed helping people find solutions to mechanical problems, playing golf, engaging in stimulating conversations, and learning about wildlife. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Jean Jardine and his twin brother, Robert Jardine. He is survived by his daughter, Rachelle (Rick) Martinez; his sister, Dr. Alice Ann Jardine, Boston; step sister, Jean (Scott) Duncan, Columbus, and his fiancée, JoAnn Gillespie. Jim wished to donate his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 1:00 p.m., in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo. The family appreciates the kindness of the many nurses from Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Toledo Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
