James “Jack”
James “Jack” Pettaway, age 78, went home to Jesus on August 25, 2016. James was born December 25, 1937, in Birmingham, Alabama to Robert and Luella Pettaway.
He was employed with the City of Toledo for more than 25 years before retiring. Jack was owner of “Skippy's” which later was known as The Oasis, for 37 years in Toledo.
In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha. He is survived by his son, Jameel James Pettaway Jr.; daughter, Lillie Pettaway-Pettis; grandchildren, Brittany and Jaimee Pettis, Mubarrak, Jaleela and Jala Pettaway; great-grandson, ViCean Sample; sisters, Virginia Moody, Mary Manuel, Iola Reeves and Lena Pettaway; brothers, Steve and Kenny Pettaway.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
