James Studer Obituary

James L. Studer

James L. Studer, 83, a lifelong Whitehouse, Ohio resident, died December 3, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Jim was born May 9, 1934 in Whitehouse, to Edwin and Bernice (Wilson) Studer. On June 7, 1958, Jim married Delphine (Zak) in Toledo. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2004, after 46 years of marriage. Jim worked at LOF, retiring in 1992 after 35 years.

Jim was a US Army Veteran and served in Germany from 1954 to 1956, where he was a tank driver. Jim was active in the American Legion after he left the Army. He was the Whitehouse Post #384 Commander for ten years, and was in their Color Guard.

Jim was an avid athlete. He was in the Cincinnati Reds farm league until he was drafted into the Army. Jim coached Little League Baseball, and was a board member of the Anthony Wayne Junior Football League and helped establish the American Legion Baseball team in Whitehouse. Jim was also a board member and helped found the Anthony Wayne Area Recreation Corporation. In recognition for all his community service, he was inducted into the Anthony Wayne Alumni Hall of Fame in 2000.

Jim loved gardening, bird watching, sports, the outdoors and hunting. He looked forward to his annual fishing trips with his son, Doug, in Ludington, MI every year.

Jim is survived by his children, Lawrence J. (Celine) Studer, Douglas J. (Julie) Studer and Eric S. (Josie Reyes) Studer; his grandchildren, James Studer III, Caroline Studer and Vincent Studer; siblings, Wilma Porter, Leon, Walter and Alan; and his devoted friend, Doris Shepard. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delphine; his son, James Jr.; and siblings, Norma Rearick, Rolland, Leslie and John.

His family would like to thank his special caregivers, Lynne Fatzinger and June Johnson, and the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Peinert Dunn Funeral Home, 6603 Providence St., Whitehouse, Ohio from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday December 8. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Whitehouse Cemetery. So sorry to see that Jim passed away. I worked with Jim in the brick mason department at LOF Rossford. He was a good friend and co-worker. My daughter and son-in-law live next to him on Brimley Drive and whenever my wife and I would go visit, I always tried to go over to see him. My wife and I will be in Wisconsin when his visitation and funeral is so we won't be able to come, but we want to extend our condolences. Again, sorry for your loss.
