James Ziegler Obituary

ZIEGLER James E. James E. Ziegler, age 82, entered into the joy of his Master early in the morning on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. James was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Clarence and Elva (Metz) Ziegler in 1926. James enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II at the youthful age of 17. His courage, bravery and loyalty to his country led these soldiers to become known as the "Greatest Generation" known in history. Jim didn't share much about the war until his later years when he shared the battles he had endured for the sake of freedom. He served on the USS Saratoga CV-5, affectionately known as SARA; she received seven battle stars for her service in WWII. After the war Jim worked as a machinist for Schindler Elevator for 28 years retiring in 1988. Almost always Jim had his nose in books, forever cherishing the written word. Jim loved his God, his country, and family; he will never leave the hearts of the ones who were blessed enough to have known him. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Lois (Disher) Winslow-Ziegler; children, Judith (David) Stange, Robert Ziegler, Susan (Ron) Stobinski and Linda (David) McLean; step children, Christine (Ben) Pugh and Michael (Terrie) Winslow; brother, Robert Ziegler; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with his parents, his sister, Lois Pohlman; and brothers, Richard, Donald, and Kenneth Ziegler. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 2-7 p.m. at David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc., 5300 N. Summit St. (419-726-1583). Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. that evening in the funeral home with Pastor William W. Fink officiating. Interment is private. Those wishing to make a donation in James memory are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association. Friends and family wishing to share a memory, a dear photo or words to encourage those he has left behind may do so at: www.jasinfuneralhome.com

Lois, I only met you once with Doris. I know the struggle you have had the last few years. Now you know that your husband is at peace and out of his misery. May he rest in God's loving arms now.
