Janet Edwards Obituary

Janet M. Edwards

10/23/1936 - 03/08/2026

Janet M. (Tulloch) Edwards, loving mother, devoted wife, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, and friend, age 89, of Northwood, Ohio, peacefully joined her loved ones in heaven Sunday, March 8, 2026. Janet was born October 23, 1936, in Ossining, New York, to William S. and Dora B. (Swartfiguer) Tulloch. Known as "Tiny but Mighty," a nickname given to her by her minister when she was young, Janet proudly lived up to throughout her life.

While living in Ilion, in upstate New York, she met and married the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" N. Edwards. Janet and Jerry married on March 3, 1956, beginning a loving partnership that lasted a lifetime. Janet was a proud and supportive spouse throughout Jerry's 22-year career in the United States Navy. During those years, they lived in Memphis, Tennessee; Quonset Point, Rhode Island; Tom's River, New Jersey; Trinidad; and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Janet embraced the life of a Navy family, building friendships and a sense of home wherever they were stationed.

In 1992, Janet and Jerry moved to Elmore, Ohio, to be closer to their grandchildren. There they formed many new friendships, and Janet became an avid golfer at Sugar Creek Golf Course, where she spent many enjoyable years in the ladies' league and valued the relationships she developed there. Janet and Jerry traveled across the country visiting those they had come to know during Jerry's military service and graciously welcomed many of them to their home in Elmore.

Janet's life centered around her family. Her greatest wish was to be a mother, and she devoted herself completely to being the very best she could be. She loved being a grandmother, and the joy grew even greater with the arrival of her great-grandchildren. Janet gave so much love to everyone around her, including her faithful furry companion of the past 15 years, Missy, who brought her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Barb (Stan) Delventhal; son, Gerald "Jerry" Edwards; grandson, Jason Delventhal; granddaughter, Jenea (Karl) Shaner; great grandchildren, Grace Delventhal (fiancé Dawson Robinson), and Carson DeLauter; and brother, Dick Tulloch; along with many loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Jerry; brother, Billy Tulloch; and sister-in-law, Marguerite Tulloch.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Friday, March 13, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Private interment: Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of donations to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
