Janice Sandys Obituary
March 28, 1947 - March 5, 2024
Janice Marie Sandys, age 76, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Born and raised in Toledo, OH, she attended McAuley High School, and worked for several years as a telephone operator after graduation. Janice was a caring, compassionate, and loving person who was always willing to help others. She was a talented seamstress and assisted many brides by preparing their dresses for the wedding day. She joined friends as they pieced quilts while enjoying their time together, stitching beautiful memories. Janice took on the role of homemaker, raising a family of three sons while also caring for the children of friends who were working outside their homes.
Janice actively demonstrated her belief in the importance of family and social issues. She was an active volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and School. She served as a Board member of the S.A.V.E. organization and she was a member of the Toledo Hospital Auxiliary, Toledo Day Nursery, and a lifelong member of the Toledo Zoo and Toledo Museum of Art.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose (Konwinski) Ludwikoski. She is survived by her husband, David, sons, Christopher, Jonathan, and Nicholas (Maura) and three grandchildren, CAS (U.S. Marine Corp), Ann Marie, and Miles. The family would like to thank MemoryLane Care Services and the Area Office on Aging (Jessica and Jennifer). Thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, staff and volunteers for their loving care over the last three years. Thanks to Janice's home care providers (Tracy and Jennifer) and home care volunteers (Don, Sita, and Doris). A special thanks to her neighbors Liz and Dick.
Friends may visit at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43614 on Friday, March 8th from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, OH 43614. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice's memory may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 800 S. Detroit Avenue, Toledo, OH 43609.

My earliest memory of aunt Jan was sitting next to her with a bag of chips - and pulling an odd looking one out of the bag. I wanted to throw it away - but she explained that the discolored chips are the ones that have exceptional flavor. I recall that moment with every "odd chip" I've encountered my whole life.
