Jason Judis Obituary

Jason Taylor Judis

Our congregant, Jason Taylor Judis passed away from an unexpected illness on April 17, 2024. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 26, 1996. He went to Ottawa Hills for grade school and high school where he excelled in Tennis and enjoyed being a member of the stage crew for the many school musicals and plays. He went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in computer science. While in college he grew deeply involved with the Orthodox Jewish religion, which gave him purpose and a sense of community for the rest of his life. He traveled to Israel to further his studies and personal growth at Machon Shlomo yeshiva. He returned to the United States and continued to study at the Shor Yoshuv yeshiva in Far Rockaway Bay, New York. He made many wonderful friends from around the world. He was grateful for his many Rabbi mentors who helped guide him along his path and for the continued support of the Chabad House of Greater Toledo. He enjoyed travelling with his family, playing video games and board games with his friends, and playing the guitar. His relationships were the center of his life, and he would always make the effort to bring people together. He was a kind person who loved to learn, always had a smile on his face, and was aware of the truly important things in life.

He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Stephanie; and his siblings, Justin and Sari; maternal grandparents, Bernie and Sharon Friedman and Richard and Sandy Rose. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernard and Barbara Judis.

Funeral services will be Sunday April 21, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, Ohio, immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will return to the Temple following interment for a meal of condolence. Shiva will be held back at the Temple on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Arrangements by the Robert H. WICK/Wisniewski Funeral Home (419)535-5840.

Jeff: My sincere condolences to you, Stephanie, and the entire Judis family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of meeting Jason, but clearly there is a lot of which to be proud. It sounds like he was a remarkable young man.

I´m grateful I´ve got to meet Jason. His sincere smile lit up our days in Har Nof, just as his cooking comforted us. He would always be down to play chess or go on a walk in the sun. He was curious, hard-working, and supportive of others. A beautiful soul and a true friend. He is and will be deeply missed.

My heartfelt and deepest condolences to the Judis family and all who loved Jason, as I did.

I had the great merit to take him to Israel with his AEPi brothers and help him along his Jewish journey.

Seeing him grow and learn was a great joy of mine. Knowing him and being a part of his spiritual journey was a tremendous privilege in every sense of the word.

There's an idea in judaism that Jewish spiritual growth will not attach itself to those who are not worthy. That a person need be refined in certain ways for their attempts at growing closer to G-d to be successful.

Jason had it all. Kindness, awareness of others, amicable and great to be around, curious, soft-spoken, and just a great all around guy.

It's no wonder he took his incredible qualities and was able to build upon them and excel in all areas of his life.

I will miss him.

May Hashem comfort us amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
May we share in good times, as well.

Jason was such a pure, warm, and happy person.

He would learn so diligently in the beis midrash day to day. I loved going to Shabbos meals and hanging out with him because he was so fun and comfortable to be around. His default was to be smiling. We are missing an incredible person in the world :(

Jason loved to join us in the Sephardic Selichot and singed with so much joy as we were integrating him into our Sephardic customs.
He brought all the board games in our yeshiva and created so much entertainment for the guys. He had the warmest hugs and his personality was filled with joy.
Even on our trips together, he had a laid back attitude while bringing us together with humor and happiness.
This is heartbreaking.

His absence in our community is already palpable. He left and will continue to make an impact on the kind of people that we work to become here in New York.

Jason was always smiling and laughing, raising our spirits. I have so many fond memories playing board games and nerding out with him on shabbos. He will be missed dearly.
