Jeff Maludy Obituary

Dr. Jeff Maludy

December 2, 1952 - April 20, 2025

Dr. Jeffrey C. Maludy died peacefully on April 20, 2025 at the Hospice of NW Ohio in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 72. Dr. Maludy was a compassionate and brilliant Cardiologist. He was well-loved by his patients and was always able to teach complex medical topics in a way that was accessible to anyone.

Dr. Maludy was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1952 to George and Betty (Bonis), who preceded him in death. He grew up with his sister, Pam, Uncle Jim and Aunt Katherine, graduating from Sylvania High School (now known as Sylvania Northview) in 1970. A lifelong Michigan fan, he did his undergraduate degree in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan, before going to medical school at the Medical College of Ohio. His internship was spent first at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, before completing Internal Medicine training at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He came back to the University of Michigan to finish his medical training, a fellowship in Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. He worked at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for over 3 decades and opened his own practice where he cared for hundreds of patients over the years.

Dr. Maludy enjoyed sailing from a young age, a passion that continued into his adulthood. Jeff was an accomplished sailor, racing his boat aptly named the "Adrenalin" in regattas around the country.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Nick (Betsy), Danielle (Ashlynn), and Kyra (Sydney); as well as his step-children, Aileen (Katie) and Andrew; and sister, Pam (Irv) Maye. His grandchildren, Kaia, Sophia, and Peyton will miss their beloved Pappou.

The family will receive guests on Friday April 25, 2025 from 3:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Sylvania. A short service will follow calling hours. All are welcome to celebrate and honor the life of Jeff.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Lawrence Elmer and Mary Scott, NP UTMC Neurology for years of upstanding care. Thanks also to Hospice of NW Ohio for honoring the promise of comfort at the end of his life.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation of NW Ohio or to The University of Toledo Foundation: Parkinson's Research.

Dr Jeff was my doctor for 18 years. He saved my life 3 times. Once he admitted me for a heart catheter. He said no hurry but we will do it in 2 days. Came into my room and said I know your history and you don´t get chest pains. They other doctors don´t feel you need this heart catheter. If someone asks if you have chest pains, say yes. Nurse came in 5 minutes later and asked if I had chest pains. YES! Widow maker war 84% blocked!

I had heart issues my whole life. My heart was stopping and my blood pressure dropped to 40/30 for weeks at a time. Many cardiologist told me there was nothing they could do. I met Drs Maludy and Bernstein who did tilt table test. No medication helped me. Dr Maludy installed a dual lead pacemaker 38 years ago which has helped me have a better life. He was a blessing to me as a young married wife with young children. I will miss him, his intelligence and wisdom in treating me for 35 years. His wife Sue, who also worked at the hospital was a great help to me in times of heart issues. They were a great couple. I am praying for Dr Maludys soul and family.

Dr Maludy was not only my employer but also an excellent teacher and friend. He was the perfect example of a caring physician. The medical community has lost one of the "good guys"
