Jerry Miner Hunt

09/08/1934 - 08/10/2024

Jerry Miner Hunt of Prudenville, MI, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the age of 89. Jerry was born in Jackson, MI on September 8, 1934 to Virgil and Mildred (Miner) Hunt. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1952, and married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Williams. They moved to Toledo, Ohio and started a family. Quickly outgrowing their small apartment, they bought a house in Lambertville, MI. When their youngest was 7, they built a house in Petersburg, MI. They lived there until moving to Prudenville, MI. when Jerry retired in 1996. He enjoyed a long, wonderful career as a Local 8 Journeyman Electrician in Toledo, Ohio. Jerry's heart belonged to Northern Michigan, and retiring there for 27 years was a dream come true. When reflecting on his life, he often said he had a great life with no regrets.

He enjoyed the outdoors and did his fair share of fishing, boating, and deer hunting, but snowmobiling was his favorite hobby. Jerry loved to drive around just for the scenic fun of it. Looking back on visiting waterfalls and other natural landmarks in Northern Michigan always made him smile. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary H. Hunt; and their sons, Jeffery M. Hunt and Andrew Hunt. Jerry is survived by his children, Cindy (Bill) Wertz, Julie Hunt, and Dennis (Adrienn) Hunt; grandchildren, Neil (Emily) Wertz, Michael Wertz, Madalyn Hunt, and Morgan Hunt, 4 great grandchildren and sister, Cathy Young.

The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from,11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. where services will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the burial in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Jerry Hunt "is a good man." (2 Samuel 18:27)

I met Mr. Hunt in 1990 when I was a first year apprentice. He gave me practical advice that I put into practice throughout my career. His advice and constructive input saved my life from much pain and suffering. Thank you Mr. Hunt for not just teaching me the trade but sharing with me life lessons.

I would like all of his children to know that Mr. Hunt loved your mom Rose and all of you with all he had, you are all he talked about on the job.

I later meet Denny on a job and we had a great time working together and telling "Jerry Hunt Stories." Although Mr. Hunt may not have expressed his innermost feelings with his family as they may have wished, be assured that he loved you all.

Jerry was a quiet man. Deep thinker. Slow and steady. Consistent. Fair. Reliable. Honest. Firm. Intelligent. Funny. Jerry "is a good man."
