Jerry Torgerson Obituary
Jerry Dean "Bear"
Jerry ended his earthly journey on Thursday, July 18, 2014, in the comfort of his home while under hospice care. Jerry was born on June 12, 1950 in Mitchell, SD to the union of Luis and Wanita (Buechler) Torgerson.
After graduation from college, he moved to the Toledo area where he worked several years at his dad's car lot, Walker Motor Sales. He ran Local 1058 Lounge until its closing in 1998. Jerry then returned to school in Bowling Green where he received his master's degree in special education. He retired from teaching due to a disability in 2009.
Jerry loved politics, a good debate, sports and playing pool. He took great pride in watching his grandsons play soccer and baseball.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife of 39 years, Madeline Meyer; son, Brian Meyer; grandsons, Brian Jr. (Kiley) and Mason; brothers, Larry (Connie) Torgerson, Loren (Teresa) Torgerson; sisters, Sherry Kenyon and Lisa Torgerson, and nephews, Chris, Kajun and Jared. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, and brother, Terry.
At Jerry's request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions in his honor should be directed to his favorite charity, The Salvation Army, 620 N. Erie St., Toledo, Ohio. Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (419)269-1111.
