Jesse

Mr. Shattuck died Monday October 8, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Shattuck was born July 5, 1935, in Belvidere, IL to the late Harold and Gladys Lobdell Shattuck.

Mr. Shattuck served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated employee of 30 years of Almond Freight in Rockford, IL. He was known for his great humor and upbeat nature, even throughout his extended sickness. He was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bulls, Bears, Cubs and Tennessee Football and Lady Vols Basketball. He also enjoyed woodworking and made furniture for his many friends and neighbors.

Mr. Shattuck was a member of the Episcopalian Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harley Shattuck, and a grandson, Michael Shattuck.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Trisa Katherine Whitaker Shattuck of Sparta; two sons, David Robert Shattuck of Galena, IL, Dean LaRue Shattuck (Kim) of Belvidere, IL; three daughters, Diane Lynn Vella (Anthony) of Lysle, IL, Debbie Sargent (Bob) of Palm Bay, FL, and Tracey Crenshaw of Kokoma, IN; four grandchildren, Courtney Shattuck, Jordan Vella, Justin Shattuck and Lexie Shattuck; cousins, including Luanne Grubb of Denver, CO, Melvin Gene Taylor of Belvidere, IL; many nephews, nieces, and good friend, Derrick Dale.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors for Mr. Jesse LaRue Shattuck, 77, of Sparta, will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Shattuck's family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Shattuck's family suggests that Memorial Contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc., 1459 Interstate Dr. Suite 211, Cookeville, TN 38501.

We just learned of Shad's passing and felt such a loss. He was a faithful employee and friend to all the Almond Family. We have many fond memories of him and always appreciated the quality of his work. All of you have our sincere sympathy.
