Joanne Mourlam Obituary

Joanne M Mourlam

11/11/1931 - 09/26/2025

Joanne M. Mourlam, 93, of Monclova, OH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 26, 2025. Born November 11, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clifton C. Hubaker and Bertha (Johnston) Hubaker. She married Richard "Dick" Mourlam on August 26, 1952.

After graduating high school, Joanne attended St. Paul Bible College in Minnesota. In addition to taking classes, she joined a traveling vocal group. She also met and began to date a handsome young man from Iowa, Dick Mourlam. They were married, and three children later, in 1962, they moved back to the Toledo area.

Joanne worked in the attendance office at Bowsher High School for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She and her husband had been active members at Emmanuel Baptist Church on W. Laskey Rd. After retirement, they served the Lord in the SOWERs (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready) Ministry, where they traveled in their RV to various Christian ministries in need of volunteer help.

Joanne loved to sew, creating quilts and a wide variety of items for her loved ones. Along with her husband, she was a prayer warrior, praying fervently for her children, grandchildren and many others. Whenever a family member was troubled and in need of guidance, she was ready with scripture to help guide them. She adored her grandchildren, loved their visits and phone calls, and often spoke of her many fond memories. She had a great sense of humor, and loved a good joke.

Joanne is survived by her loving children, Gretchen Feller, Janelle (Donald) Canard, and Rick (Cherie) Mourlam; grandchildren, Jeremy (Michele) Anderson, Jennifer (Darren) Black, Emily (Tadek) Stadniczuk, Christopher Canard, Matthew (Kristine) Mourlam, Daniel, Joshua, Makenzie and Miles Mourlam; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Gilpin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; sister, Donna Walter; brothers, Eugene Hubaker and Robert Hubaker; and grandson, Bradley Donald Canard.

Visitation at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI, will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 3rd, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
